Vote
Early and Often
Former Director of Intelligence
James Clapper: "Of
course the Russian effort
affected
the outcome. Surprising even
themselves, they swung the
election to a Trump win.
To conclude otherwise stretches
logic, common sense, and
credulity to the breaking
point."

For
the record: After the Santa Fe school shooting Texas
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick dragged out the same old tired
trope that violent video games cause violence. They
don't.
Guns do, games don't, otherwise the entire
world would be shooting each other at the same rate
as the U.S.

We had us some elections here in Dallas yesterday.
As expected turn-out was piss-poor, as we say down
here. Meaning "fuck-all". Meaning about 3% of the electorate
bothered to show up on what was a bee-yew-tee-fool
day here in North Texas.
Yeah, I know, it was all run-off primary crappola but
it was still important. After all, without the right
people
voting
we wouldn't have gotten our first Latina lesbian running
for Texas Governor. (Yeah, you heard right.) So, good
luck, former Dallas Police Head Honcho Lupe Valdez.
Still, 3% is a
pitiful number. It's clear that the problem
is that run-off elections don't hold the public's
attention. The hoi polloi need sex and controversy
and violence to make them perk up and take
notice. Maybe we need to try greed instead.
For instance, how about every person in each
state that that votes gets a lottery
ticket, with
one
guaranteed winner for, say, a new car. I know
that sounds unseemly but, hell, even the
Supreme
Court thinks gambling is hunky-dory these days. As
for funding, I think most states could swing
it.
My other idea is to reach out to the supremely
wealthy (I'm looking
at YOU, Mark Cuban) citizens of each city and
get them to pony up, say,
$5
for each vote cast
in their
local elections,
with the proceeds going to Planned Parenthood.
That's a win-win for liberal causes
